INSPIRATION
Living in Minnesota, you only have a few good months of fresh local grown produce. This truth urged us to research ways to provide healthier options for our family.
We then started growing microgreens in our basement just for us. We quickly realized the demand and made a small business plan.
A BUSINESS PLAN
In 2016 the plan was to start a small - Micro Farm. For several years we grew for local restaurants and food coops before outgrowing the basement. Praying started and three years later, moving north was the solution.
CURRENTLY
Solid Rock Growers is growing great! We’ve provided a variety of products around the range in northern Minnesota since 2020!
Operations are a traditional greenhouse for seasonal lettuce & herbs. A climate controlled greenhouse, with an addition in the process to provide year-round growing of all products.
We have chosen not to be certified organic; however, the same methods for seeds, soil, and watering are the same as organic practices.
OUR NAME
The name, Solid Rock Growers comes from scripture and our property. “Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
In all we do FAITH, FAMILY, FARMING we pray it glorifies God.
Lastly, rock has a story! Our second year homesteading we were installing cattle panel fencing for our pigs. Almost every T post hit a rock and we’d have to move and try again...fun!
GOALS
It is our future goal to pass on what we know to anyone willing to learn.
